Decorative:

Q: Do you have paint to use on cement / concrete floors?

A: We have two options: Coolcrete Colour Stain or Super Coat.

Q: How does it work?

A: The metallic particles in an acidic water based solution re-act with the calcium hydroxide (free lime) in the hard concrete and yield insoluble permanent colours. The acid in the Coolcrete solution open the surface of the concrete and then the water causes the "rusting" re-action. The re-action begins immediately but can continue to develop for up to a month.

There are other factors that could determine the outcome of the colour:

  • Age of cement
  • Moisture content of the cement
  • Age of aggregate in cement - Siliceous aggregates such as gravel do not re-act with the stain
  • Floated, powder floated or trowelled finish
  • Weather conditions during stain application
  • Efflorescence
  • Preparation method before application
  • Newly laid floors contain more free lime than older established floors so Coolcrete will develop more colours on new cement floors

Q:What colours are available in this product?

A: The colours achievable are variants of three basic colour groups. These colour groups are gold, brown and blue/green.

Q: Can I seal the floor after using the stain?

Q: How many m2 does 1 Litre cover?

A: Approx 4m2 per L

Q: How many coats are needed?

A: In most cases 2 coats, for yellow and white apply 3 coats

Q: Will the product self level?

A: Rather dispose of it as the solvents are a similar price to the applicators. If cleaning brush marks etc - thinners may be used.

Q: I have applied a colour (not happy and would like to change), can I apply another colour on top of that? And can it be a lighter colour?
